Care & Handling

Antique and vintage jewelry has lived a life before yours. A little mindfulness will ensure it lives many more.

Keep it dry.

Remove your jewelry before bathing, swimming, or washing hands. Moisture accelerates tarnish and can loosen aged settings.

Store it separately.

Wrap each piece in a soft cloth or place in an individual pouch. Pieces stored together scratch and tangle.

Avoid chemicals.

Perfume, hairspray, and cleaning products should never come into contact with antique jewelry. Apply first, dress last.

Handle with intention.

Pick up pieces by their shanks or bands, not their stones. Old settings were not designed for the pressure of modern handling.

Gold

Wipe gently with a dry, lint-free cloth after wearing. Avoid abrasive polishing on plated or filled pieces.

Silver

Silver tarnishes naturally — this is not damage. A soft polishing cloth restores shine. For pieces with intricate detail, leave the patina; it is part of the character.

Gemstones

Do not soak. Wipe clean with a barely damp cloth. Porous stones (turquoise, coral, pearl, opal) are especially sensitive to water and oils.
